Sercotel to open its first 5-star hotel in Almería

Sercotel Aqaba Cabo de Gata, located in Carboneras, will feature 54 rooms and a design inspired by contemporary aesthetics and organic comfort.

Sercotel announces the addition of its first operated 5-star hotel: Sercotel Aqaba Cabo de Gata. Located in the municipality of Carboneras, Almería, this project reinforces the company’s commitment to holiday tourism and advances its growth strategy in destinations with strong potential.

The property, currently under construction, is scheduled to open in 2026 and will feature 54 rooms. It is located at Avenida Garrucha, 13-15, just a few metres from Carboneras Beach, in one of the most outstanding tourist enclaves on the Almería coast.

The opening of Sercotel Aqaba Cabo de Gata forms part of Sercotel’s 2026-2029 Strategic Plan, which includes strengthening its presence in the upscale segment and in holiday destinations. With this project, the company also consolidates its growth in Andalusia, where it has added 15 hotels over the last five years and where it has its strongest presence.

In the words of Sercotel’s CEO, José Rodríguez: “The addition of Sercotel Aqaba Cabo de Gata marks Sercotel’s entry into the luxury segment and reflects the company’s evolution towards a more ambitious offering in the holiday sector, with a proposal spanning different segments. With this hotel, we take another step forward in our growth strategy in Spain, where we continue to expand our presence in key destinations.”

With the opening of Sercotel Aqaba Cabo de Gata, the chain will reach 10 hotels in sun and beach destinations and 17 properties in Andalusia, already one of the most significant regions within its portfolio. It will also be its second hotel in the province of Almería.

Overall, Sercotel currently has 97 hotels in Spain and Andorra, of which 63 operate under management models, 21 under franchise agreements and 13 are under development.
