        Navarre, a journey into nature

Navarre is green, lush and leafy. We could say that in Navarre nature is even excessive, a true paradise for lovers of hiking, of routes through forests, rivers and fairytale villages.

One of the lungs of the province is, without doubt, the Irati Forest. It is one of the largest and best-preserved beech and birch forests in Europe.

Do you already have an idea of the spectacle? Well, imagine it in autumn, when the leaves are turning red and ochre and covering the ground like a blanket. When the fog rolls in, you feel like you're in a fairy tale.

You have surely heard of the Bardenas Reales more than once. It's no wonder, you go from the green of the Navarrese forests to the ochre of a desert. Because yes, Navarre is a land of contrasts and, for that, it needed a desert.

Located in the south-east of the province, when you discover it you'll think you're on the moon. You can explore it on foot or by bike, but before you start, stop by the information centre. There, you will learn a little more about the curious geological formations that the wind and rain have sculpted.

Nearby, you will find Tudela. Centuries ago it was a city of kings and popes, when these figures passed through the area and stayed in the Dean's Palace. Now, it is you who can sleep like a king (or like a queen) at the Sercotel Hotel Tudela Bardenas. And yes, we know where to try the best romaine lettuces of Tudela. Get settled, we'll talk about it.

A visit to Pamplona, the capital of Navarre

One cannot talk about Navarre without mentioning Pamplona, an ideal city for a weekend getaway. Beautiful, cheerful and stately, Pamplona has plenty of charm and it knows it.

You can start to fall in love with it by walking through its medieval old town. Pamplona boasts a walled complex and a Renaissance citadel like few others in Spain.

In this part of the centre you will find the Town Hall familiar. Not sure why? Its façade is the one where the person who proclaims the San Fermín festival appears every year. You may be less familiar with the Cathedral of Santa Maria. Come in, take our word for it. Or if you prefer, take one of the guided tours that will allow you to get to know both places in more depth.

        Navarra

        Navarre is infinite

Of course, it is in this area that you have to stop to regain your strength. Fancy some pinchos? Pamplona always boasts of its bars full of delicious pinchos. To try them out, head to the most legendary streets: Estafeta, San Nicolás, Comedias or Mercaderes.

Just off Estafeta street, you will find our Sercotel Hotel Europa: the perfect location, for the perfect city. Are you staying over?

Hold on, there is still more Navarre to see. In this province you will have to discover the legend of the witches in the Caves of Zugarramurdi; the natural beauty of the Foces de Lumbier and Arbaiun; the Baztan Valley, famous for the trilogy by the writer Dolores Redondo; and Roncesvalles, for many the start of the Camino de Santiago and for others, the end of one of the stages of the French Way.

You will make a stop along the way when you come across Olite Castle. Impressive, isn't it? It becomes even more beautiful when you also discover the historic centre of the village, with a Royal Palace from the Middle Ages and charming cobbled streets.

We are waiting for you on your way back to Pamplona, in Tafalla, to open the doors of the Sercotel Hotel Hola Tafalla. Because a stopover is always a good idea to continue the journey with strength.
