Sitges Film Festival 2026: fantastic cinema, culture and plans by the sea

From 8 to 18 October, the Sitges Film Festival 2026 will take over the streets of this charming coastal town. And “take over” is no exaggeration: over its 11-day run, there will of course be screenings, but also plenty of activities popping up around town as you wander through the streets.

There will be no shortage of familiar faces either. This year, Peter Jackson, Danny DeVito, Kevin Bacon and Amy Irving will all be making an appearance.

We’ll take our seats in venues such as Cinema Prado and the Escorxador cultural centre to enjoy titles including ‘Found Alive’, by Carlota Pereda, which will open the festival, and ‘Wicker’, starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, which will bring it to a close. In between, there will be hundreds of screenings to choose from, all listed on the official Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival website.

Where to buy tickets

Yes, you’re coming to Sitges for fantastic cinema. But before you can settle into your seat, the lights go down and the film begins, you’ll need to buy your tickets. You can purchase them online through the festival website, which is ideal if you already know exactly what you want to see. If you prefer to keep things spontaneous, you’ll also find several physical ticket outlets in Sitges. One of them is the Tourist Office, located at Plaça Eduard Maristany, 2. The ticket desks there will be open from 8 to 17 October, from 9 am to 3 pm and from 4.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

A town taken over by the festival

When we say the festival takes over the town, we mean it. On 10 October, the legendary Zombie Walk will once again fill the streets with zombies. One of the must-do experiences in Sitges during the festival, it comes of age this year and will set off at 7.30 pm from the Miramar-Centre Cultural. And if you want to get even more into character, that same day you can try to secure one of the 400 free zombie make-up slots available in the tents by Sant Sebastià beach from 11 am.

You can also stop by the Fanshop, next to Sant Sebastià beach, where you’ll find merchandise, books, T-shirts, cult films and all kinds of items linked to fantastic and horror cinema. It will be open throughout the festival from 10 am to 11.30 pm. As if the films did not end with “The End”, but simply carried on out into the streets.

Beyond the cinema: things to do in Sitges in October

We know it’s fantastic and horror cinema that has brought you to Sitges, but we also know just how easily this seaside town wins over anyone who visits. So yes, at some point you’ll want to head out and explore. Make your way to the Baluard, where the Church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla offers what is probably the most iconic view in Sitges.

You’ll already be in the old town, where Maricel also awaits: a monumental complex made up of the Palau de Maricel and Museu de Maricel. A visit here introduces you to one of the key landmarks of Catalan Noucentisme, while also taking you through the history of art from the 10th to the 20th century.

For even more art, you may want to visit the Cau Ferrat Museum. It was the home and studio of artist Santiago Rusiñol, as well as a gathering place for other creators such as Picasso and Ramón Casas. Its interior still seems to hold on to that creative energy so often found in artists’ homes, while bringing together a fascinating collection of glass, ceramics, wrought iron and more.

Whenever you feel like heading towards the sea, make your way to the Passeig de la Ribera, where you’ll come across several of the town’s beaches and, along the way, our hotel, Sercotel Kalma Sitges.

Where to stay

Between screenings, there will be moments when you simply need to rest. When that happens, we’ll be waiting for you at Sercotel Kalma Sitges. You’ll find us right on the seafront and just a few minutes’ walk from the historic centre. We love the Mediterranean, and you’ll notice it throughout the hotel, where its essence has been captured in décor that makes our rooms warm and welcoming. You’ll notice it on the plate too. Our restaurant, El Casinet, pays tribute to the cuisine of the Garraf coast and everything the sea has to offer. Arrive, park your car in our car park and start enjoying the festival. We’ll take care of the rest.
