In the north of the north, where it seems the peninsula is about to end, there is still space for a bit more life. Much more. As much as can be found in the streets of Ferrol, which preserves much of its past while remaining open to what the present and future have in store for it. The English Way begins in this city, allowing you to reach Santiago de Compostela in four or five days of pilgrimage. However, we ask you to stay here a little longer first, as we still have a few more things to tell you at our hotel in Ferrol (Galicia). We will suggest you take a walk in the A Magdalena neighborhood and look up, so you don’t miss the facades of some of its buildings. What beautiful glass galleries and filigree structures. This is the beauty of Modernism; it has reached everywhere, including Ferrol. Designated a Historical-Artistic Site in 1983, this neighborhood spans about 15 streets, making it an ideal area for a stroll after a workday or as part of a sightseeing day. Don’t stop here. Continue a bit further into the Canido neighborhood. We could very well say "From Canido to the world." When September arrives, this area of the city becomes particularly interesting and lively. It’s even in the newspapers! Who is responsible for this? Velázquez. Well, not exactly. Although we could say that probably the most famous painting by this painter inspired local artist Eduardo Hermida to promote a festival where each year more and more Meninas are painted on the walls of this neighborhood. There are already more than 450, and discovering and photographing them is as easy as taking a walk. This was Street Art. Ferrol boasts an estuary and a port, and has had intense activity over the centuries. You can learn more about the grandeur of this activity at the Naval Museum and the Shipbuilding Museum. The natural beauty of the estuary will speak for itself if you go to the San Felipe Castle, one of the castles that guards its entrance. On the other side is the Palma Castle.

What's to eat? We tell you about it in our hotel between Narón and Ferrol
Galicia is a land of good food. Serving generous quantities and quality product on the table.
You can check it out at the A Magdalena Market, where you'll find stalls with fresh fish and seafood like you've seen few others; and others full of the colour of vegetables, fruit and greens; the firmness of meat and the attraction of freshly baked sweets and bread.
Foodie traveller, maybe here you will find that product that will make you remember Ferrol once you return home.
Once you have tried the beaches of Ferrol, others will not be enough for you. You have been warned. A five-minute drive from our hotel in Ferrol, you can take a dip in the Caranza beach. It is an artificial beach, whose white sand bathes the calm waters of the estuary.
However, if what you want is open sea, wind ruffling your hair and the feeling that the world and its worries are far away, then you need a day at the beach in Doniños, one of our favourites.
Almost 2 kilometres of sand, a dune system, a lagoon and a promenade form the "dry" part. The strong waves and wind make it particularly popular with surfers and swimmers.
