Hotels in Tudela

The second largest city in Navarre, in terms of size and importance, is located between the Bardenas Reales and the market gardens of La Ribera, from which it draws its water supply. Don't know Tudela yet? This is the sign you've been waiting for! 

The capital of the Ribera de Navarra has a lot to offer you... and a single day is not enough to discover it! That's why we recommend that you keep this guide in a safe place... and that you find a space in your diary to book a couple of nights in our charming hotel in Tudela. 

Strolling through its Plaza de los Fueros, admiring its impressive cathedral, discovering its Renaissance churches and palaces, passages, walls and watchtowers, you will understand why. Take note: when you visit the cathedral, you can't miss the Portada del Juicio, the Romanesque cloister and the Baroque chapel of Santa Ana, patron saint of Tudela.  

The palaces of the Marquis of San Adrián, the Marquis of Huarte (watch out for its double imperial staircase!) and the Admiral's House will leave you open-mouthed. The best way to get to know them? Following the city's historic routes. 

You will be surprised to learn, for example, that Tudela was founded in 802 by Muslims, who lived alongside other religions. And yes, its Jewish quarter is one of the most beautiful quarters, so you can't miss out on a stroll through its nooks and crannies. 

And if you are one of those people who are always looking for the best viewpoints in each town, make a note of two: the Cerro de Santa Bárbara, with panoramic views of the town, the Ebro and the market gardens; and the Monreal Tower, which once served as a defence and is now the first camera obscura in Navarre and a visitor centre. 

Its secret? Its high quality land is bathed by the river Ebro and the climate of the area favours this abundance. Moreover, the tradition of farmers and market gardeners is deeply rooted in the area.  

Our last piece of advice: go for these products at the local markets, in the bars and restaurants... and enjoy them!  

Did you know that the Bardenas Reales, that uniquely beautiful natural park that is a semi-desert area, is only 30 minutes by car from Tudela? You will feel like you are on the moon because it is full of ravines, plateaus and hills formed by the erosion of the clay, gypsum and sandstone of the terrain.  

Another of the things to do near Tudela is to explore the Ebro copses, which are alluvial ecosystems, along the banks of the river. You can start at the Cerro de Santa Bárbara, continue along the Mejana to the Presa de las Norias. From there, towards the Soto de los Tetones, where you can see a large area of rice fields.  

Along the route of the royal cattle track, you will come to the copses, those protected areas that are one of the singularities of this part of Navarre. If birdwatching is your passion, you will be happy to spot nightingales, purple herons and turtle doves.
